Computer Clean up.
Ok, for all of you that are having problems with viruses, malware, spyware, ad-ware, links that go to the wrong destination, or an abnormally slow computer. Here is what I do to clean up the problem.
Download and install all of these(they are all links):
HijackThis
Malwarebytes
SUPERAntiSpy
Spybot - Search & Destroy
Ad-Aware Free Edition
A-Squared Free
CCleaner
Avira AntiVir Free Edition
If you are unable to successfully install all of these then you will need to try plan B. I’ll discuss plan B latter in this post.
- Once all of them have been installed run each of them one-at-a-time and check for updates. You don’t need to run any scans yet.
- Run HijackThis save the log file and email it to me @ csd32129@hotmail.com I can tell you the items in the list that need to be removed. I don’t recommend you try to guess what to remove.
- Restart your computer in safemode(press F8 while the computer boots)
- Run each program scanning and removing everything they find.
When you run Ccleaner you may not want to clear everything, such as saved passwords, autofill, or your history. Just uncheck the items that you don’t want to remove.
- You may need to restart between each scan. Be sure to restart back in safemode F8.
- Once your computer is working better you can uninstall some of the programs:
Malwarebytes
SUPERAntiSpy
Ad-Aware Free Edition
A-Squared Free
OK now about plan B. This is only for more advanced users. Contact me if you need help with this. If you are unable to successfully install all of the programs listed above then you may have an infection that is too severe to remove by your own computer. In this case you should remove you hard drive and put it in another computer. Boot the other computer and make sure you don’t boot from the infected HD. Install and run the programs on the good computer. Then scan the HD from the infected computer with each program. Then put the hard drive back in your computer and try to install the programs that did not install. If you can get all of them to install then follow the instruction that you skipped above.
